Life on the Streets

The following is a series of snapshots of life on the streets of Accra and Tema, Ghana, West Africa.  I found the people to be open, friendly and with a strong religious foundation.

        " The Bats of Accra"
As for a little local folk lore....it is said that
a chief of a northern part of the country, after
a prolonged illness, was transported to the
military hospital in the Capitol of Accra.  This
Chief was so beloved that the bats from his
tribal area followed him to Accra.  The bats
took up residence in the trees surrounding the
Hospital.  The Chief did not survive but the
              bats remain.......loyally awaiting his return.
